How packaging manufacturers should prepare master data, BOMs, moulds, lots, quality checks, and finance workflows before ERP rollout.
ERP readiness is operational readiness
Packaging manufacturers do not fail ERP projects because they lack dashboards. They fail because product masters, customer specifications, BOMs, warehouse locations, and quality rules are not clean enough to run the factory.
Minimum data pack
- Customers, contacts, credit terms, delivery addresses, and price lists.
- Products, BOMs, units, packaging variants, mould references, and customer-specific specs.
- Suppliers, lead times, purchase terms, receiving locations, and item tax treatment.
- Warehouses, zones, bins, lot rules, stock opening balances, and stock movement reasons.
- Chart of accounts, tax codes, invoice numbering, and payment terms.
Go-live acceptance should be workflow-based
A good UAT script does not say "customer page loads." It says "create a customer, create a quotation, convert it to sales order, reserve material, create an invoice, record payment, and verify customer balance."
