A traceability workflow should connect production orders, lots, inspections, NCRs, stock holds, shipments, and customer records.
Traceability is a chain, not a report
Traceability only works when each department records the right link at the right time. Production needs material and output references. Quality needs inspection and NCR context. Warehouse needs lot and movement control. Shipping needs the final customer and delivery record.
The minimum chain to prove
- Raw material lot received through GRN.
- Material consumed by production or reserved against a work order.
- Finished product output created with lot or batch reference.
- Inspection result, NCR, CAPA, or release decision recorded.
- Stock moved, picked, packed, and shipped to the customer.
- Invoice and customer record linked to the shipment history.
